Since our first stone was mined more than fifty years ago, Granite Mountain Quarries has been built on quality, service, safety, community and family. These ideals have been the keystone of our business since day one. They are also the qualities that have enabled us to grow from a small, local crushed stone quarry to a leading producer of industrial and construction materials in the southeastern United States.

A View of Our History

We have deep roots and lots of stories. Here are just a few glimpses into our past.

  • 1964

    Wallace P. McGeorge, Jr. formed GMQ with H. Tyndall Dickinson, who served as our President from 1964 until 1995.

  • 1964

    Plant #1 opened.

  • 1969

    Plant #1 acquired Main Line Union Pacific Rail Access.

  • 1971

    Major expansion of Plant #1.

  • 1975

    Opened Plant #2 (which mainly serves
    Little Rock now).

  • 1981

    We continue to grow and focus on safety.

  • 1992

    Haskell Lee Dickinson II begins serving as President (1992 to 2020).

  • 1998

    Acquired Cranford Construction Company.

  • 2001

    Opened Plant #3 in Bryant.

  • 2005

    Acquired Crystal Hill Quarries in Maumelle.

  • 2010

    Acquired 110 rail cars for shipping unit trains via rail.

  • 2020

    Thomas Dickinson begins serving as President (to present).

Our Community

Environmental Responsibility

At Granite Mountain Quarries, we embrace our role as stewards of the environment. Our company is committed to understanding and implementing guidelines for air, water, land and wildlife responsibility, as they pertain to our industry. Granite Mountain Quarries is an active member of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), which addresses important environmental issues, including:

Trinity Foundation

Granite Mountain Quarries supports education, community efforts and the arts through the Trinity Foundation, a philanthropic organization operated by our parent company. The Trinity Foundation provides funds for scholarships and other initiatives that have a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
